So while the current system isn’t perfect, it’s the best we have now at allowing a few more teams to compete with hopes of winning a true championship. The usual suspects are Oklahoma and Texas. And this year’s no different. Though, Breant Venables still has to prove he’s a capable head coach following a subpar year one. OU is OU though and they always have the talent. This year will be no different. Texas should be improved in 2023 with Quinn Ewers in his year as the starter at QB. Though, the loss of Bijan Robinson at RB is enormous. You don’t replace that kind of talent and you can’t replicate the experience and leadership he brought to the table. I expect TCU to take a step back after a Cinderella season in 2022. Max Duggan, the Horned Frogs virtuoso QB and Heisman finalist covered up a lot of deficiencies last season.. Simply put, Duggan was the gasoline that made the TCU offense go. And without him, the Frogs, while still competitive, don’t expect to compete for a Big 12 championship.
