The four schools remaining in the PAC-12 should simply merge with the Mountain West and take the PAC name, since it has a stronger brand and history, and better CFP access. They would actually have a larger geographical footprint than then old PAC-12 did, and the PAC logo in use would work just fine for the new conference, since it already acknowledges that the league extends into the Rockies. There is precedent for this. When the Southwest Conference collapsed in the mid-1990s, what was left of it merged with the Big Eight to form the Big 12, which will celebrate 30 years in existence next year. The Big 12 was legally a new entity, but most people thought of it as being an expanded Big Eight, which it really was. They proved that, for the 2019 season, they had the men, the talent, and the coaching staff to pull off a great season and set some records. LSU is always a contender. This year, they just happened to be unstoppable.
