Mike Pence appeals to evangelical Christians and has no real choice but to be somewhat critical of Trump’s actions, as Trumpworld has a major grudge against him. Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie are running as anti-Trump candidates, though they’re otherwise very different. It’s a bit difficult to see what Vivek Ramaswamy is targeting since he seems to be trying to be exactly like Trump. Maybe he’s hoping to beat DeSantis as the Trump-like alternative. But his support is almost non-existent, and it’s hard to see xenophobic Trump voters voting for a guy named Vivek Ramaswamy. As far as policy options, you are right that they are not offering a lot of variety. The GOP hasn’t been interested in actually governing the country for a long time. Most of them seem to think they’re Fox News talking heads or perhaps performance artists.
