This will be either from an overseas delivery package (obviously originating from a country or city where the virus is thriving and prevalent), or it will be from an overseas traveller who has either returned to your city/ country or a visitor who has somehow gone undetected. All the variants are about the same. What has changed is our responses to them. Later variants are more resistant to antibodies we made against earlier variants. But if somebody with no previous exposure or vaccines was exposed to the latest variant, their responses would be identical to those at the beginning of the pandemic.
