The genesis of this story dates back to 2014 when I was pursuing engineering in NIT Karnataka. Fresher’s in our college has a rule that every girl must choose a male partner inorder to attend the same and I was asked by a girl to be her partner. Let’s call her ‘X’ since it sounds more relevant now! 🙂 So, due to freshers X and I got acquainted with each other. Soon the acquaintance transformed into a date and date transformed into a relationship; it was cloud 9 like any other love story. As days went by I got to know X at a deeper level. I started to understand that she was socially awkward, had tough time making friends and had few mental health issues too, which is all fine since one doesn’t get all this by choice !

I started thinking if I should stay in this relationship or not, since things could go haywire at any moment. At this point she had become too attached to me . Leaving her would have devestated her and would have compounded on her mental health issues. I decided it wasn’t the right thing to leave a girl in limbo and I shouldn’t be the reason for a girl to self harm her. So we continued the relationship, became even closer. At college we had a group of Friends who were really close, something similar to ‘Wolf pack’ from hangover! She got introduced to this group and we all became a family. We all had numerous happy moments together. Down the year her social awkwardness faded away and it seemed like her metal health issues had improved a lot. She was slightly weak at her academics and would be depressed especially during the exams. I would sit next to her and teach her before almost every exam even though I hadn’t completed my part. Watching her be sad because of the petty exams was not bearable for me. As days went by i fell deeply in love with her.
