Trump is the worst president we’ve had in my lifetime, and my lifetime includes Richard Nixon. So that means if Sanders runs against Trump, I’ll vote Sanders. If Biden runs against Trump, I’ll vote Biden. If it’s Warren, I’ll vote Warren. If it’s Kim Kardashian, I’ll vote Kardashian. If it’s my girlfriend’s dog Theodore, I’ll vote Team Theodore. If it’s a soggy piece of toast, put me down for the toast. At this point, Bernie is helping Trump win re-election. Only 53% of Sanders supporters will vote for the democratic nominee if it’s not him. That being said it would crystallize the views of right leaning independents, Never Trumpers, and moderate Democrats that Sanders only interest is taking other people’s money as he builds his socialist utopia. Democrats will be out of the White House for 20 years or more. No chance of winning back the senate and democrats may even loss the house again. Bernie is an old Jewish guy running for President in a youth-worshipping, overwhelmingly Christian country. He speaks with a New York accent in a country where “New York values” is regularly used as an insult. He is a self-described socialist in a country where that word has been demonized for a hundred years. He is running for nomination as a Democrat, a party to which he did not belong until recently. He is running against Hillary Clinton, also not young and with a lot of baggage, but the most admired woman in the country (as she has been for years), who has been very publicly preparing for the Presidency for over ten years, has an enormous amount of long-term support and is also politically more moderate, which in most elections is the strongest position.

I’d say about 60%/40% right now. Hillary did well in the south, but she’s used up most of her southern advantage. Bernie came otu ahead on Super-Tuesday by a few delegates and looks like he will do very well in Michigan. Hillary’s true lead right now is under 200 committed delegates. Just Califronia alone is over 400 delegates. Michigan is 130. The real answer is that it continues to be neck and neck. It all depends on how well HRC can do outside of her bulwark which is the south. Looking just at the highly unlikely scenario of Trump vs. Sanders, I’d put my money on Sanders. Trump has – as best I can tell – two effective political strategies: self-promotion and shock-value. Basically he says something so outrageous and/or offensive that it shocks his opponents into confused silence, then he steps into the void to tell people how great he is and what a wonderful country we’ll be with him in command. Sanders, so far as I have seen, isn’t really shockable.
