This gets us the room (which would have been open to the drinking public if we weren’t using it, and usually a sound engineer and door person) Touring is boring and exciting, relaxing and exhausting, lucrative and expensive. You see a lot of the areas you tour, and yet you see the same things over and over again. The idea of traveling around from place to place sounds really exciting, and it actually is! Seeing places you’ve never been to, meeting people you’ve never met, trying food (or other things…) you’ve never tried before. But you have a job to do with each stop. Depending on where you’re going and how long you have to get there, you usually don’t have time to truly experience the place you’re playing.

I’ve been in bands where the venue stocked the band bus with ice, food and drink! Most venues (especially new bands) provide nothing but the money they agreed to pay.
