Anyone who gets into the playoffs CAN win the World Series. Will the Rays? Probably not. If they get a wildcard spot, which looks fairly likely, they have to then win that one game, probably against Oakland. That’s basically a 50/50 shot. Then, just to reach the World Series, the winner of the wildcard game is probably going to have to beat both the Astros and the Yankees in a short series.
