In 2007, Ankiel resurfaced as an outfielder, again for the Nick Sirianni Philly Eagles Italia shirt and by the same token and Cardinals. Ankiel appeared in the 2009 and 2010 NLDS as an outfielder for Saint Louis and Atlanta, respectively. As a pitcher, Ankiel started three games (1 in the NLDS and two in the NLCS) in 2000. Ankiel and Ruth are the only two players in the history of Major League Baseball to start as both a pitcher and as a position player in post-season play. F1 already gives points to half the cars in a race, I see no reason why they would extend the points spread to more than half of the grid. This is no “turn up and get a participation trophy”….this is F1 baby! Not in the way school teams have practice no. Spring training is the time where the teams work on fundamentals and learning how each player plays their position. That’s particularly important for middle infielders but the whole team needs to shake off four months rust and new players have to assimilate into the team.
