The popular answer will be the Golden State Warriors with Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green or Klay Thompson, given their team’s success and individual accolades (MVPs, All-NBA, All-Star, advanced statistics). But the Los Angeles Clippers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and maybe surprisingly the Utah Jazz also have great trios. Below, I’ve ranked the Big 3 for each team, based on my assessment of the players’ advanced statistics (PER, WS, VORP, etc.). I bucketed the teams into tiers given the inexact “science” of these ranking exercises. The rankings mostly correlate with the overall performance of the teams, highlighting the importance of a roster’s top 3 players in today’s NBA. Some notable exceptions include Boston, Houston, and New Orleans.
