Edit: I forgot to mention the extremely big misconception of “thousands of artillery aimed at Seoul will kill everyone!!11!!1!!”. Only 650 pieces can cover the Northern half of Seoul, Gangbuk, and less than 250 can reach the Southern half, Gangnam.(yes, from Gangnam style) And using the Yeonpyong battle for reference again, as much as 30% of the landed shells shot did not implode, and around 70% missed completely. That means only around 10% of the artillery shells will have an effect. Also, the houses in Yeonpyong were made of bricks and were still not completely destroyed, but most buildings in Seoul are made of concrete and steel, and uses a design that makes it specifically hard for artillery to penetrate.
