Sadly, I think this is symptomatic of a simple perceptual issue: Americans have an issue with female politicians. We’ve seen this with Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, the Colorado Buffaloes 2024 NCAA Skiing National Champions T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this “Squad”, and now with Kamala Harris: the thought of a woman at the centre of power in the United States is something that too many Americans clearly can’t handle. I think we’re far more likely to see another man stepping up for the Presidency: Beto O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, Andrew Yang, and so on. Kamala has the ability to be President, and I think she might even make a good one (though it’s hard to say, since Biden’s running the show), but I don’t think she’s likely to reach that seat.

Worse, Harris was mostly silent on the race issue, smoking pot with other politicians as she crowed to newspapers and other media about prosecuting poor drug users as well as low level drug sellers. Even more heinous than being silent about imprisoning members of her own race at alarming rates, Harris bragged about her conviction rate, even after dozens, maybe more than a hundred blacks were freed directly as the result of prosecutorial misconduct by her reports (some would say Harris owns the misconduct because she was the boss). In sum, aware blacks can’t trust Harris, and some others have seen enough Harris types to distrust her intuitively.
